July Newsletter

For fear of speaking to soon and jinxing things, a heatwave is here! How better to enjoy the sunshine by getting out and about to explore what Devon has to offer! Enjoy some great food, take in our amazing rolling landscapes and soak up the warming rays as we see Devon burst into life! June however, has been a busy and action packed month for us at Stuart Line Cruises, so why not put your feet up for a few minutes and enjoy our latest newsletter!

Roaring Skies!

June was off to a flying start with the English Riviera Air Show – one of the most highly anticipated Special Events of the year!

A fully-booked ‘Pride of Exmouth’ set sail from Exmouth Marina to drop anchor in Torbay for first row seats for the 8th air show, and what an spectacular performance it was!

The natural amphitheatre of Torbay makes it a favourite performing destination for some of the RAF’s most iconic display teams, this year including the awesome roars of the Eurofighter Typhoon, civilian aircraft display teams and the Navy Wings to name but a few.

The weather was fine, a great time was had by all and we are looking forward to our next and final air show of the year – the Teignmouth Air show, on the 6th July.

We are famous!

Have you spotted us yet?

Next time you’re travelling around Devon, be sure to keep your eyes peeled because you may be lucky enough to see your favourite Devon destination on the back of the bus!

Travelling to us by bus is easy, you can catch the 95 from Devon Cliffs with a bus stop right outside our booking office at Exmouth Marina or if travelling from further afield, you can catch the 57 from Exeter direction or the 157 from Sidmouth to Exmouth Town Centre. It is then just a short, flat walk down to us.

We would love to see some photo’s our new bus ad so please send them in via our Facebook page or simply reply to this email! Just make sure you are not driving when taking that photo! 🙂

Aye Aye, Captain!

We are extremely proud of and delighted for our newly appointed Skipper, Will! Congratulations Captain!

Will has been on board since November last year as a trainee Skipper, learning the ropes from exactly how we like our boats to sparkle, pulling the perfect pint and of course, boat handling – all of the essential skills required to be a competent Skipper and team leader.

He has extensive boating experience, having grown up on the River Exe and then going on to work abroad as a tender pilot. Will has gained an array of maritime qualifications since leaving school, all of which have provided him with invaluable skills, contributing towards his broad boating knowledge and expertise.

Will recently underwent the practical and theoretical examinations required in order to become a Boat Master and we could not be more thrilled at his success.

We never had any doubts in Will passing but this is no easy feat and he has done brilliantly.

NEW Cruises!

The coming month will see the introduction of not one but TWO brand new cruises!

First up, our Dawlish Round Robin:

We have decided to introduce this cruise due to popular demand to ‘get to the other side of the water’. Currently, no such service exists and we have identified a real gap in the market – so to speak. So many of our visitors wish to get to Dawlish but currently, the only options are to get the train or drive all the way around. Driving is time-consuming and let’s face it, who wants to have to drive and sit in traffic when they are on their holidays?! Not I!

So, the Dawlish Round Robin offers the opportunity for passengers to embark on a one-way boat trip from either Exmouth or Dawlish, disembark in either location and then return back to their starting location via train – it is a GWR service and voted one of the most scenic railway journeys in the world!

Our Dawlish Round Robin presents the perfect day out for all ages and a variety of interests, with complete flexibility in the return train time.

Secondly, our South Devon Circular:

Again, our South Devon Circular is a brand new cruise for this year with the first sailing scheduled for Saturday 29th June 2024.

This cruise will take in the stunning sights of Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve and the town of Dawlish with its famously exposed railway line, before turning at the infamous Parson and the Clerk, before heading back towards Exmouth.

The duration will be approximately 2 hours and makes for a gorgeous alternative coastal cruise to our popular Jurassic Coast Cruise – both coastlines are magnificent and full of history and interest in equal measure and we are really very excited indeed to share them with you.

Woof! See our dog friendly cruises!

We love having dogs join us on our sailings though, self-admittedly, we have been guilty of not making it clear enough which trips are suitable… today that changes as we launch an updated “Dog Friendly” webpage which contains a specially crafted timetable of all our dog friendly trips!

Do not be afraid to ask for some water for your pooch, our crew are only to happy to ensure all our passengers (no matter how many legs they have) are happy and enjoying themselves!

Fathers Day Round Up

All of us at Stuart Line Cruises wanted to say thank you to all those families who joined us to celebrate Fathers Day this year.  We hope you enjoyed your Chunk Pasty and Drink of Choice on board.

For those who did not join us, we hope you all had a great day, however you choose to spend it.

Time for a Little Something Special!

We have so many Special Events for July! Book in early though, as these are generally oversubscribed and fill up fast!

Click the trip above to go directly to the booking page for more information.

Photo Corner

We are always being sent so many photographs from passengers enjoying our cruises, or from those seeing either the Tudor Rose or Pride of Exmouth sailing past and we thought it was a waste to not share them… so here is a new feature we hope will be a regular addition to our newsletter, photo corner.

If you have any photographs you wish to share, please send them in by replying to this email or via our Facebook page as a direct message.
