Trip Description

As Devon’s oldest and most picturesque seaside town, Exmouth is known as the Gateway to the World Heritage Site, the Jurassic Coast. The starting point is marked by a 5-metre Geoneedle that sits high on the cliff top; this stretch of coastline then runs all the way along to Old Harry Rocks near Swanage in Dorset. It is designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its outstanding historical significance, 185 million years of geological history that travels through the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, can all be clearly seen in the cliffs, caves, and coastal stacks.

On the opposite side of the river is the South Devon coastline, and depending on time and tides our Mini Coastal Cruise will occasionally sail over for you to take a closer look. Starting over at the Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve, you will see this 500-acre area of protected grassland, sand dune and mudflats that give a home to many species of plants and birds from the unique perspective of the water. We then sail past the seaside resort of Dawlish Warren, Dawlish town and on to the infamous rock formation, The Parson and the Clerk, where legend has it that a grasping parson and his clerk were turned to stone by the devil as a monument to greed.

Our Mini Coastal Cruises are circular cruises that depart and arrive back to Exmouth Marina and are easily accessible for manual wheelchairs. Our crew are always on hand to assist with boarding and are happy to help with any other requirements for the duration of the cruise.

During each trip, your Skipper gives live, useful and entertaining commentary, making sure you don’t miss out on any of the sights and features of the seascape as you pass by. These cruises sail on our boat, the Pride of Exmouth. Onboard you will find a fully licensed bar serving a range of local ales and gin, alongside a range of hot and cold refreshments and snacks. Keeping its traditional features, this boat is also modern, exceptionally clean and well-maintained and has toilets on board.

The outside upper decks have great views and plenty of fresh sea air for you, whilst our covered and heated lower decks have large wide windows, meaning you will always get great views whatever the British weather has in store!

As this is a sea-going cruise, the sea state can be affected by the weather and the winds. If the weather conditions are unsuitable for a pleasant trip, we reserve the right to cancel. In these circumstances, we will offer to transfer you onto another date or issue you with a refund.

Sailing from April through to October, our Mini Coastal Cruises are picture-perfect boat trips, great for families and groups to have a taste of the beautiful seascape in Devon.
